Eco-printing: Patterns with Leaves and Flowers
$125.00

Dates: Saturday, May 17 from 10 am to 3 pm
Fee: $125 / discount with member code
Ages: 15+
Levels: All Levels
Sessions: 1
Instructor: Crescent Calimpong
Location: Schack Art Center, Studio 1

In this 5-hour workshop, we will dive into the world of eco-printing. Together we will create dye baths, use leaves and flowers to create a nature-inspired pattern on cotton fabric, and learn how to shift colors using iron.

This workshop will be both informative and experimental. Come ready to learn, play, and have fun with natural dye. By the end of the workshop, workshop participants will understand how to prep their own dye bath, what is involved in applying natural color to cotton, and how to use iron to “shift color” and create vivid effects on cotton fabric. Each workshop participant will walk away with two naturally dyed cotton samples and their own naturally dyed cotton bandanna.

Please bring:

• Apron (or wear clothes you don't mind getting a little messy)

• Dish gloves (optional but nice if you don't want to get dye on your hands)

• Wear comfortable/closed-toed shoes

• Lunch, water (we will have a 1-hour lunch break)
