Saman is just the person to show you how to go about it, from the different tools to use to what woods to choose for your project. In this class, a 3-dimensional whimsical animal will be carved. During the class, Saman will discuss and demonstrate sharpening and honing techniques to keep your tool edges razor-sharp.

During this hands-on class, you will be making two spoons. Get started with the basic skills and safety practices while carving a simple and useful kitchen spoon. Continue to hone your skills as you carve a more decorative "love spoon" -- something often given as a gift. Learn about wood selection, preparing blanks, basic carving techniques, and traditional oil finishing. These skills will help you become prepared for future wood carving projects that you can use in another class or at home.

In this hands-on workshop, students will explore the exciting world of mixed-media painting. Through step-by-step guidance, participants will learn essential techniques such as:

1. Creating 3D Textures: Learn how to use flexible modeling paste to build rich, dynamic textures that bring your painting to life. Then, layer and apply the paste for various effects.

2. Decoupage Techniques: Learn how to incorporate printed photos or illustrations into your artwork seamlessly using decoupage. You’ll master the process of adhering, sealing, and blending images into your textured surface.

3. Painting with Acrylics: Explore acrylic painting techniques, focusing on blending colors, adding depth, and complementing the textures and decoupaged elements in your piece. By the end of the class, you’ll create a unique, vibrant mixed-media painting combining texture, imagery, and color, all while exploring your creativity.

Make multiple copies of greeting cards, gifts, fabric, and decor. Block printing is an ancient art with roots in many cultures that can provide inspiration. Block prints have a unique and artistic look. Are you not good at designing or drawing? Don’t worry! We have several design options for you. Use your creativity and curiosity to carve and print your own one-of-a-kind art! This class is for everybody, from complete beginners to experienced carvers and artists.

Whittling is a simple and fun hobby that many people enjoy all over the world. In this hands-on class, carve your own one-of-a-kind necklace, comb, hairpins, or similar object!  Learn how to use carving tools safely and select wood for your project. Gain skills in making basic cuts and using proper whittling techniques. You will also learn how to sharpen and hone your tools to keep them razor-sharp. This type of small object can be a bit more delicate than carving a spoon, so it's great practice. If you’ve taken carving classes with us before, this will be an opportunity to hone your skills and enjoy working on another project with Saman and a classroom of peers.  Discover a new hobby, develop handy skills, and meet other crafty folks in this rewarding class! No previous whittling experience is required.
